Jennifer is a grade 12 student at Markham District High School. This is her third year on MMYC, and she's thrilled to be serving as co-chair this year. Outside of council meetings, Jennifer can be found in her school's robotics room preparing for competition, quizzing grade 9s on their Classical knowledge, practicing piano, attending Taekwondo classes or drinking bubble tea with friends! She loves to learn new things, from pen spinning tricks, to more digits of pi. That being said, Jennifer would love to learn something from you--if you ever see her at events, be sure to say hi!
Julia Ip is in grade 12 at Markham District High School and loves being involved in the community. This is Julia’s third year on MMYC and she is so excited to make her final year spectacular! Aside from MMYC, Julia is an avid long distance runner and karate enthusiast. In her spare time, Julia also enjoys baking, playing her violin, making handmade greeting cards, and travelling with family. This year, Julia is looking forward to leading the MMYC team through a successful year as a co-chair.
Ashlee Jiang is a grade 12 students currently attending PACE. This is her second year on MMYC and she is pumped! She's ready to plan and engage the youth of Markham with the best events yet! She loves to read, play the piano and scuba dive in her free time. One of her favourite things to do is plan. She loves being organized and has recently gotten into the bullet journaling culture. She loves to plan events, especially to help others, and this year, she's excited to continue doing her favourite thing!
Lindsay Lee is a grade twelve student at Markham District High School. This is her second year on MMYC and she is super excited to take on the role of Marketing Manager! Besides MMYC, Lindsay is involved with HOSA, Markham Key Club, Stem Fellowship, Best Buddies, MDHS SAC, and her school's music department. Her passions include badminton, karate, piano, architecture, making cards, memes, Starbucks double star days, all you can eat sushi, gardening, photography, travelling, Japanese stationary, naps, and horror movies. Grace Huang is a grade 11 IB student at Bayview Secondary School. In her first year with MMYC, she is excited to work with the other members to organize initiatives and events for the youth community. Besides dedicating her time to plan activities and events for MMYC, Grace is also the vice president of her school's HOSA chapter and a member of Bayview DECA. Benny enjoys browsing through websites such as Yelp.com and admiring the feed of various FoodGrams to determine the best destination to eat at for various different cuisines. With a passion for food and a determination to live a healthy lifestyle, he frequently swims and goes on either neighbourhood bike rides or runs. Benny is a strong beleiver that learning about another individual through an online biography is significantly less effective compared to engaging in a face-to-face conversation. With that being said, he highly encourages those individuals who are currently reading his biography to talk to him in person. He hopes to see you at upcoming MMYC events!
Ashley Vadivelu is a grade 10 student attending Markville Secondary School. This is her second year on the council, and she will also be helping out with MMJC. Aside from MMYC and MMJC, Ashley will be partaking in her school's Peer Mentor Council and Youth Activist Club. Ashley enjoys the arts, hanging out with friends and above all, food. She is extremely excited for the amazing year to come, as she gets the opportunity to work with new people and continue to be a part of a great council!
Ivan Qian is a grade 11 student at Bayview Secondary School. This is his first year on MMYC and he can't wait to meet people all over Markham through MMYC events. Outside of MMYC, he is the Vice-Chair of the York Region Youth Action Group (YRYAG) in Support of the Red Cross and a member of his school's DECA chapter and Dragon Boat team. He is a wushu (a demonstration/combative martial arts sport) athlete and loves to travel and watch Netflix - his favourite shows are Friends and the Marvel's Defenders series. Adara Hagman is a grade 9 student attending St. Brother Andre Catholic High School. This is her first year in MMYC and she will be helping out with Ambassadors as well. Outside of MMYC and Ambassadors Adara is in student council, robotics, and on the announcements team at her school. She is also part of the ME to WE Social Entrepreneurship Program and enjoys working with charities and organizations such as WE. Adara is passionate about STEM and loves learning new languages, coding, and film making. She enjoys Disney and Harry Potter movies, travelling, voluntering, baking, and going on spontaneous photoshoots. Adara is very excited for a great year in MMYC and Ambassadors and she can't wait to see you at future events!
Jake Koszczewski is a grade 11 student at Markham District High School. This is his second year on MMYC, and he is excited to make many more amazing memories. Apart from being on MMYC, Jake is on his school's Student Council, DECA, Model UN, and the Cross Country team. Janice Xu is a grade 11 student at Bayview Secondary School. This is her second year on MMYC and she is excited to share her insights and experiences with the MMYC family. She loves to go on adventurous (food) hunts downtown, lining up in the cold for Pablo cheese tarts, eating chocolate fondue and taking pictures at graffiti alley. Not only does Janice like to take risks, she finds the statement “high risk, high reward” to be true after learning how fun dragon boating is, despite the endurance it requires. Jessica Li is a grade 12 student at Bayview Secondary School. This is her second year on MMYC, and she cannot wait to make more memories with everyone there! In her spare time, she loves to be involved in her community through humanitarian organizations, orchestra, as well as various youth initiatives. Some of her hobbies include watercolour, baking, listening to movie soundtracks, and eating hotpot. Julia Groza is a grade 11 IB student at TMS School. This is her first year on MMYC and is super excited for this amazing new experience! Other than MMYC, Julia is involved in a variety of activities and clubs, including DECA, Model Un, band and competitive volleyball on the Markham Wildcats. She is a very determined and motivated person, and always wants to try new things and meet new people along the way. She is already having so much fun on MMYC and cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.
Hayley Banks is a grade 12 student at Markham District High School. This is her second year on MMYC, and she is thrilled to meet new, exciting people. Felix Chan is a grade 12 student at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Highschool. Although this is his first year in MMYC, he is ready to take on the various responisbilities and give it his all to ensure success for each event! On top of community involvement, Felix has many hobbies such as DECA, Parkour, Tricking and even cheerleading! Felix is also the president of Pierre Elliott Trudeau's Student Council, and will often be found at school either at the library or out in the field. Maxine Bisera is a grade 9 student at St. Brother Andre CHS. This is her first year on MMYC, and she is super excited to help out her community, and for all the new experiences to come! Apart from MMYC, Maxine is also apart of her school's junior band, Spectrum, and the announcements team. In her free time, you can usually find her playing the violin, reading mystery novels, and binge-watching shows on Netflix. Laura Florea is a grade 11 student at Thornhill Secondary School. This is her first year on MMYC, and she is thrilled to work with the other council members to bring the youth of Markham some of the best MMYC events yet! Other than being on the council, Laura is a part of multiple clubs at her school, and the Lifesaving Club of Markham. She enjoys travelling, volunteering at elementary schools, playing video games, and helping people with their math homework. If you ever see Laura at MMYC's events, she'll be happy to chat with you!
Kelly Hu is a grade 10 IB student at Bayview Secondary School. This being her first year on MMYC, she is beyond stoked for all the incredible things that are in store!! Apart from MMYC, Kelly loves playing sports like volleyball and track, and being involved in super cool clubs like Bayview DECA, and HOSA. Some of her favourite things in life include her brothers, sciences and the Blue Jays! Megan Niu looks forward to serving the youth of Markham for another amazing year. Between working on the council and school, she enjoys playing the French Horn and is always looking for music reccomendations. Michelle Lam is a grade 11 student at Bayview Secondary School. In her first term with MMYC, she is excited to meet new people in the community and see the events come to life. Olivia Chan in a grade 8 student at Greensborough Public school. This is her second year with MMYC and is excited to meet new people in her community! Besides being a part of MMYC, Olivia also enjoys volunteering and being a part of school clubs such as band and student council. During her free time she enjoys playing the piano and flute, reading, and playing badminton. Though these are things that Olivia does frequently she especially loves travelling and exploring parts of Asia and Europe with her family. She can't wait to work with everyone on the council and have another exciting year!
Peter Huang is currently a grade 12 student attending Pierre Elliott Trudeau High school. As a first year MMYC member, he is looking forward to the exciting events and friends he will meet throughout this coming year. Peter is also a member of the Trudeau ski club, the Markham-Stoufville youth council, Markham Key club, and is one of the co-chairs for the YMCA Teens night program. Aside from these councils, Peter loves to ski in the winter and is a passionate basketball player. Peter is very friendly and approachable, so do not be afraid to chat with him even though his hype-beast clothing may scare you off. 😊

Renee Lee Wah is a Grade 11 student at St. Augustine Catholic High School. This is her first year on MMYC and she is so excited to get the youth of Markham involved in the community. Outside of MMYC, Renee participates in clubs at her school, and she loves lending a hand at her church, St. Justin Martyr. This is Karthik. We know he’s a pretty good looking guy. Karthik has been on the council for 3 years since he was in grade 9. He is now in grade 11 and he loves being a senior at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School. From taking pictures to creating videos and posters, Karthik, along with the rest of the marketing team ensure that all media is up and ready for the council. A side from MMYC, Karthik loves to play badminton and do photography as he is one of the photographers for Teenagers of Markham. He is super excited for another great year on council!
