Join the Mayor's Youth Task Force (MYTF)
What is the MYTF?
The Mayor's Youth Task Force
is a group of elementary and high school students from the Town of Markham who
plan events and discuss issues faced by youth. The purpose of the MYTF is to
provide local youth a voice by which they may give input and develop initiatives
to enhance youth opportunities within the Town of Markham.
Who can apply?
Anybody entering grades six through
twelve may apply to join the Mayor's Youth Task Force.
Where and how often does the MYTF
meet?
The Mayor's Youth Task Force meets at
the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd. Markham, ON L3R 9W3, on
the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 4 - 6:30 pm. In addition,
frequent meetings are called in between the second and fourth Tuesday of every
month. Expect a minimum of two special events (potentially weekends and school
days) per month that you will be expected to attend, in addition to regular
meetings.
What would be my commitment to the MYTF?

You must be able to respond to all emails within
twenty-four hours.

Attend all meetings and events.

Provide input at meetings and contribute to ideas.

Complete all work by assigned deadlines.

Get in contact with teachers and the principals/vice
principal's at your school. and keep them aware of MYTF activities.

Promote events in your school and to fellow peers.

Reliable, courteous, and respectable to your fellow
MYTF members.
Failure to meet any of the above expectations at any time
throughout the MYTF school year may result in dismissal from the MYTF.
Do I earn money by being on the MYTF?
No. The Mayor's Youth Task Force is a volunteer group,
which is allotted money by the Town of Markham to create events and inform youth
about opportunities in Markham.
What is the MYTF looking for on the Personal Interview
Day at the Markham Civic Centre?
How do I apply?

Submit an Application by Word or Submit an Application Online Your application will be screened and reviewed.

A personal interview will be granted to selected
applicants. An "Interactive Activity Session" will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 12am - 3 pm at Camp Chimo. More details will be provided once you apply. In addition, if accepted from the Interactive Activity Sessions, you will be granted a personal interview at the Markham Civic Centre in the Ontario Room, located at 101 Town Centre Blvd. Markham, ON L3R
9W3. You will be notified by July 1, 2008 by email if you have been
selected to be a part of the Mayor's Youth Task Force. Good luck!
Please note: it is
strongly recommended that you attend or participate in an MYTF event before
submitting your application. The MYTF heavily weights prior support as an asset
to the team.

NOTE: ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON JUNE 17th, 2008 AT 4:30pm. If selected for an interview, it will then be conducted on June 19th, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE.
