Markham Civic Centre (101 Town Centre Boulevard)
May 7, 2007
8:00 am (registration) - 3:00 pm What is
It?
Science and innovation refers to learning new concepts about the material and physical environment in which we reside. It is a subject that is experienced by every human in existence on a regular basis. Therefore, it is vital to learn about science and innovation because it provides students the opportunity to think in an abstract manner, which allows them to gain a better understanding of various concepts of the world around them.

Teachers/Staff Advisors
This year, we The Mayors Youth Task Force of Markham, will be hosting a conference examining the themes of science and innovation. This conference will take place on May 7, 2008, at the Markham Civic Centre from 8am-3pm.We ask for participation from your school.
As well as informing students about the various strands that form the subjects of science and innovation, our goal is to also target students who are currently exploring career pathways in science for the future. The idea is to teach students about the importance of science in our everyday lives. We ask that the teacher supervising this conference select students who they feel will benefit most from this conference in all grades. If there are ESL students, we strongly suggest the teacher selects a friend who is bilingual to act as a translator and a buddy at this conference.
Make sure to have all school and student details available.
You are responsible for the students that attend the conference from your school; hence, medical information needs to be collected prior to the conference. The Mayor's Youth Task Force is not responsible for the students at any time on the day of the conference.
Students' behaviour must be controlled by the teacher; otherwise, the MYTF reserves the right to remove any students from the conference without contest and/or reimbursement.
Have secured transportation to and from the event.
